Dogs have been most loving and affectionate companion of Humans. But we are sometimes unaware of their behavior and sign they are showcasing us. Decoding them is not very easy; they may look excited sometimes or even dull. Here are some signs to watch out for, to understand them for their care and well being.
Dogs signs and stages of pregnancy
Although the gestation period of dogs is 63 to 64 days which is roughly around 2 months; but there might be variation in time maybe 58 to 66 days. As a dog owner myself, this is the ultimate time, our dog needs our compassion, support and love. During this time we may encounter certain behavior on weekly basis. These stages are shown below-
🐶Week 1 and 2
In the first week although there are some changes and adjustments, but they are slightest of changes, which are hardly visible to trace something happening.
🐶Week 3

Up till the 3rd week, dogs will show more noticeable changes including vomiting sometimes and morning illness, hungriness tends to grow more often which results in increased appetite; showing affection more than usual; and as a result you may sense nipple size growing.
🐶Week 4
Dogs in this stage become very resistant to physical activities; this limits them to being quite lethargic and drowsy, from this you can sense something's cooking; this is the ideal time for the Vet to conduct the Ultrasound.
🐶Week 5 and 6

Now this is the stage when there are visible changes in the size and appearance of the body; abdomen of the mother noticeably enlarges, with obvious and observable weight gain also showing up.
🐶Week 7 and 8

You can witness observable fetus movements of the baby in the womb of mother. Nesting behaviour also starts; mother dog seeks for a peaceful place in solitude might be under bed or other room, for nurturing puppies and safeguarding them from perceived threat.
In this period the milk producing glands are enlarged and dogs may leak a milky fluid type substance in order to store milk and prepare themselves for breast feeding.
🐶Week 9
At this stage the mother dog feels complete discomfort and uneasiness; their energy drains out resulting in exhaustiveness, being fatigued out and temperature variations. With them barely able to eat, the appetite is also hampered. After labor, this is the climax we have awaited for a long time. The arrival of our cute little companions.
